Ethics |
Importance of Ethics in NursingPatients remain the key drivers in healthcare. They sustain the focus of ethical and moral decisions for nurses. They are the recipients of safe care in upholding respect of humanity and dignity (Kangasniemi, Vaismoradi, Jasper, & Turunen, 2013). In so doing, the importance of ethics in nursing is all about patients and their welfare. It involves the absence of preventable harm during the process of care with the prevention of errors and adverse events promoting patient safety (Kangasniemi, Vaismoradi, Jasper, & Turunen, 2013).
Ethical nursing means establishing purposeful relationships respecting patients of who and what they are rather than being judgmental of what they become. It is being fair and not biased in care. It includes the moral refinements to exhibit appropriate nursing values and moral character, maintaining trust, and advocating for others (Woods, 2011). Most of all, ethics in nursing is important to be able to provide the best care possible through the delivery of expert quality care. |
